Family travel
Foz with children: simple outings and planning your family stay
A family trip to Foz does not need a different activity every hour. A short morning outing, a long break and an optional second trip can work better. These ideas help set the pace; your children's ages, mobility needs and sea conditions will determine what suits your family.

Before you set off
- Choose one main activity each day and keep a short alternative ready.
- Beach plans depend on flags, weather and sea conditions.
- Children and babies also count towards the apartment's maximum occupancy.
Walks with a clear turning point
Begin with a short outing in Foz. Pick a simple goal: reaching a spot on the promenade, watching the water or taking a break before returning. Decide where to turn back in advance instead of walking on until someone is too tired.
You could look for colours on the boats or draw what you saw afterwards. These games do not require approaching harbour working areas or the water's edge. With a pushchair or particular mobility needs, check the route's features; coastal walks should not automatically be considered accessible.
A beach morning, with swimming optional
A Rapadoira is a starting point for getting to know Foz. Check the day's conditions before going down and follow local instructions. No beach is always safe for swimming: conditions change and children still need supervision.
Plan the return too. Spare clothes, water and an organised meal help you finish an outing at the right time. If the day does not suit the sand, substitute a short walk or an indoor activity. Adjusting your plans is often part of making a family holiday work.
One excursion rather than a collection of stops
If leaving Foz, choose a main destination and check opening hours before setting off. Adapt a three-day itinerary for your family by removing stops, leaving time for meals and keeping the afternoon for rest. You do not need to complete a route to enjoy it.
As Catedrais needs particular planning for access and tides. Before including it, consider whether the visiting window suits your children's routine and check current requirements. A permit does not make every route suitable for all ages or abilities.
Choosing between O Baixo and A Trepía
At CASA DO PRACTICO, O Baixo is on the ground floor and accommodates up to 6 guests, with two double beds and a double sofa bed. A Trepía is upstairs and accommodates up to 4, with one double bed and a double sofa bed. They are the two apartments in the same house, and you can choose which to book.
Count every traveller, including children and babies, and check that the bed arrangement suits your group. Cots are not available. A ground-floor location does not itself establish accessibility: ask before sending a request if you need to avoid steps or have another specific requirement.
